Our Reflections

A year in highlights

2 min read

As we enter 2020, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some highlights that have really stood out from the previous year.

New features

At Mind of My Own, we are devoted to continual development of our apps, taking a child-centred approach in everything we do. Last year we were proud to release three brand new scenarios called ‘My Wellbeing’, ‘My Education’ and ‘Return from Missing’. From the feedback we have been receiving, our newest scenarios are proving essential in enabling young people to discuss the most challenging issues in their life in a way that suits them best.

Launch of the 1,000 Club

To celebrate our most prolific users, we created a special award to mark the milestone whereby 1000 statements have been received by an organisation following implementation. Congratulations to Manchester, Gateshead, Havering and Sunderland for being quickest off the mark. We look forward to welcoming more organisations into this exclusive club in 2020!

Vox Con 2019

What a couple of conferences they were! As well as holding our annual conference in May in Birmingham we also hosted our inaugural Vox Con Scotland in Glasgow in September! Both days were full of fun and amazing insights and, as ever, provided a great opportunity for our community to network and share stories and useful implementation tips. Thank you to everyone who came along and we can’t wait to do it all again this year.

Work Experience – Monica

Over the Summer we partnered with the Drive Forward Foundation to offer a week of work experience to a talented young woman called Monica. Throwing herself into a typical working week at Mind of My Own, Monica attended a customer meeting with Thurrock, helped run a UX design workshop for young people in Midlothian and finished off her week by attending a road mapping day and recording a podcast – not a bad week’s work. Well done Monica!

Mayor’s International Business Programme – Cohort 14

Mind of My Own were delighted to win a place on the 14th cohort of the Mayor’s International Business Programme. The programme launched on the 13th September 2019 and will see our co-Directors join business leaders from 75 of London’s fastest-growing companies, taking part in a unique programme developed to support high-growth companies with internationalisation and overseas expansion.

Goodbye to Beatrice but welcome to Cameron

Finally, in a year full of highlights, we sadly had to say farewell to one of our most valued team members, Beatrice. Having joined the team in July 2017, Beatrice was instrumental in improving our implementation processes by combining her expert project management skills with hands on experience in using our apps. We were delighted to welcome Cameron as our newest member of the account management team. As assistant account manager, Cameron has been supporting our Mind of My Own community in Scotland which continued to thrive throughout 2019 and looks set for another big year ahead.
