Every child in the world
Every child in the world has the right to a childhood. It’s that simple.
Nothing could be closer to our hearts than that statement from an incredible organisation we have the privilege to be working with, Terre des Hommes (TDH). TDH is a Swiss based global organisation that works in child protection, children’s health and with children in need of humanitarian protection.
Children involved in criminal justice
A recent innovation from TDH is a programme for children who are involved with criminal justice systems and in need to legal advice and advocacy. The CLEAR-Rights project initially involves Hungary, Romania, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. CLEAR-Rights will disseminate the tools and materials resulting from the project across Europe, aiming to give support to every child who needs it. A recent blog included this quote from one of our account managers, Tom:
There’s a long way to go in this country for every child in youth offending services to feel safe and heard, but we’re excited to work with our community to make this a reality.
Designing a digital tool for every child
Mind Of My Own is working with CLEAR-Rights to develop a digital tool that will capture the experiences of children receiving legal aid or pro bono legal support. The resulting data will be used to better understand children’s needs when they are within criminal justice processes. Insights and learning from the project will inform future developments in the provision of legal assistance to children, aiming for every child in criminal justice to be helped.
Coming up soon
This Autumn we will be running co-design workshops with children and young people from Romania, Hungary and France, to create a tool that fits with their needs and expectations.
