Thank you
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who could attend this year’s event. You made VoxCon 2019 one of our most phenomenal annual conferences yet! Over 100 people attended, full of the energy and enthusiasm we have come to expect from our amazing colleagues and partners using Mind Of My Own all over the country.
It was a day full of fun and amazing insights and a great opportunity for our community to network and share stories and useful implementation tips.Special thanks to our keynote speakers, Action for Children’s Managing Director of Children’s Services Carol Iddon, and SCIE’s Chief Operating Officer Ewan King. They both gave inspirational presentations on the undeniable value of young people’s voices and co-production.
Young people steal the show
It was young people themselves who stole the show – for sheer exuberance take a look at this video tweet by young people from Birmingham Children’s Trust.
The same young people ran two interactive and informative sessions on ‘Mind Your Language‘ that inspired everyone to think again about the power of words to alienate or include. Our long time friends from Gloucestershire included Em, a young person who spoke eloquently about the impact Mind Of My Own apps have had on her life.
All the workshops were full to bursting; the other topics included an exploration of ways to improve participation in foster care, how to approach an inspection and ways of evaluating participation, specifically to demonstrate the value of Mind Of My Own.
The conference chair, our own Hunter Jones, also gave a short presentation with Beatrice Koroma about the redesigned service portal, aptly entitled ‘You said, we did’.
Glowing feedback
I really enjoyed hearing stories from the other LA’s about how they are using it and some of the strategies for overcoming any problems they had faced. I think it has given me some good ideas for trying to make the initial roll out as successful as possible!
Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and all of the team at Mind of my own for a very well organised and informative day. We really enjoyed all aspects of the day and wanted to congratulate you all on how well it went. We both came back full of new ideas.
Thanks for yesterday, the conference was helpful. Particularly to make some links and connect with people already up and running with Mind of My Own.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and have scribbled lots of notes of ideas to think about taking forward to take the use of mind of my own to the next level.
