Our Partners

Experts in Participation

Children’s universal right to participate is enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which is summarised in these four principles:
– Non-discrimination
– Best interests of the child
– The right to survival and development
– The views of the child.
Mind Of My Own explicitly upholds the four principles in providing a simple and inclusive way for children’s views to be heard and their safety and best interests preserved.

Co-Production

Co-production happens when adults and children work together in equal partnership. At Mind Of My Own we have co-produced the content and features of our apps with young people since we began back in 2014. Frequent and regular co-production workshops are a principled commitment of our work and are contained in our design principles. This is founded in our belief that children are the experts in their own lives.

Data Informed

Children’s own data is the evidence you need to transform practice and build resilient services. Mind Of My Own data reflects the thoughts of young people collected in real time; data that can revolutionise your decision making, whether at an individual, service or organisational level.
Every organisation in our community has a service portal with access to reports that show usage statistics and data trends based on what young people are saying.

Information Security

Innovation and Technology

Before Mind Of My Own the world of children’s participation was lacking digital tools, despite the ever growing popularity of tech among young people. We innovated the first digital tool to capture children’s voices and since the initial prototype (now evolved as the One app) we have continued to introduce change and new ideas. In 2017 we launched our second app, Express, for children with additional needs and in 2022 we released Xchange for young people in youth justice. Our partners in innovation are our users – children, young people and the adults who work with them.
Throughout the year, every year, incremental innovation is how we approach the constant process of renewing and enhancing the apps.
