Message to the young people of Wales

Mind Of My Own mantra

The Mind Of My Own mantra is simple – all children’s voices should be heard. This doesn’t only apply to young people using care services. We believe that no matter what situation young people find themselves in, their voice matters, and we should do what we can to give it a platform.

Message to the young people of Wales

This year we’re proud to say that we’ve greatly expanded our community which means that more young people have the chance to use our apps to share their views, wishes and feelings. Some of our newest community members are Welsh. One of these is Powys Children’s Services who have a message to the young people of Wales that they’ve asked us to share.

The Senedd and Election Act of 2020

Did you know that 2020 saw the biggest change to Welsh policy since 1969?

The Senedd and Election Act of 2020 passed, granting 16- and 17-year olds the right to vote in the Senedd Elections. Wales is the second country in the UK to grant this right to young people. With the upcoming Senedd Election we would like to achieve a high turnout of voters aged 16-17. The next Senedd Election is on Thursday 6th May 2021 when young people aged 16-17 years old can make history in Wales when they cast their vote for the first time.

Powys County Council (PCC) will be running events over the next few months with the opportunity for people aged 16-17 years old having the opportunity to enter competitions and a prize draw. Young people can access a multitude of resources from PCC to learn about the Senedd Cymru and how voting works.

Please check that you are registered to vote here.
