An account for trusted adults

Mind Of My Own’s Worker Account is essentially a digital space for people who work directly or closely with children and young people. The account allows these trusted adults to use One app or Express with young people to share about themselves, their daily life or for those times when they have something important to tell that may not be easy to say out loud.

Why rename?

At Mind Of My Own we are constantly striving for change in child centred practices. To that end we are evolving our products to better address the needs of children and young people in social care, education, youth justice, healthcare and more. We needed a distinctive name to represent the ‘practice of workers’ in all these sectors as well as one that can be well understood not only in the UK, but also Australia, New Zealand and, eventually, across the globe.

Namestorming workshops

It can be a tough, gruelling process to define something so complex in a word or two: we needed a naming strategy. We assembled a task force from our internal team and invited them to participate in a couple of ‘Namestorming Workshops’. Here’s what we did:

To start with, we posed the fundamental questions to the participants – What is it? Who is it for and what does it do? We stormed the Miro whiteboard and asked the team to share as many names they could come up with.
Next, we filtered the names and shortlisted the ones that were closest to core attributes such as, informing about the product, recognisable or memorable, scalable, and future proof.
And finally, it was time to find that needle in the haystack. After weeks debating it we voted for the name that had meaning for all of us.

Bye bye, worker account, hello Practitioner Space

So friends and colleagues in the Mind Of My Own community, we are presenting to you – Practitioner Space. This will be a personalised space for all practitioners, where the time spent interactively with children and young people will be well supported through various features and improved functionality for ease of use.
